3 Tips for Keeping Your Skin Healthy

Our bodies are мейд up of almost 90 percent water.  Because our skin is so vital to our entire bodies health, it is important that you work hard to replenish it.  In the short-term, not doing so means dry skin; in the long-term, repeatedly dehydrated skin will lead to the quickened deterioration of our skin.  And considering that an aging body begins to lose important strength, sees a lowered immune system, a thinning of the skin, etc., it is imperative that we keep our skin as hydrated as possible to keep our protective barrier in tip-top shape.

Wear Sunscreen Every Day

It only takes about 15 minutes in the sun for your body to sustain irreversible skin damage.  For those counting at home, we spend less time driving to work in the morning, and the sun definitely shines through our car windows.  This makes it essential that you wear sunscreen every, single day.  Not doing so could mean something as serious as skin cancer or as simple as prematurely aged skin.

As is stated above, as we get older our skin becomes thinner and less elastic, which means that it isn’t capable of providing our bodies with the protection and regulation as well as it used to.  Not wearing sunscreen can add to and quicken the process of aging skin, making sunscreen a necessity to our everyday health.

Wear the Right Sunscreen

We all want tan skin, but those using a sunscreen with spf 5 protection are kidding themselves if they think that they’re being protected from the sun.  As a matter of fact, the government recently began requiring that sunscreen producers state on sunscreen products with less than 15 spf protection that such sunscreens have not been proven to prevent premature aging or skin cancers.

Always use a sunscreen of between 30 and 45 spf (anything higher hasn’t been proven to protect skin any more so than 45 or below) labeled as “broad-spectrum” (i.e. provides UVA and UVB protection), and reapply sunscreen at least every 2 hour that you’re in the sun.
