Common Symptoms of Milk Allergy and Ways to Prevent Them

style="text-align: center;">

Milk allergy has many uncomfortable, unpleasant and even painful symptoms.

These symptoms can be as mild as simple digestive disorders and as serious as anaphylactic shock. This is why you may want to prevent milk allergy at the earliest stages. Even if the symptoms are mild, it may be a good idea for you to consult with a doctor. Keep in mind that milk allergy is not the same as lactose intolerance – which is considered to be a common issue for adult people. While the symptoms are very similar if not the same, milk allergy is believed to be much more dangerous, especially for small babies.

Milk and milk products are known for their nutritional value. But for an unlucky few, these products can cause the most severe health conditions. The most common symptom of milk allergy is an inflammation of skin (aka a rash). In addition to the rash, other common dairy allergy symptoms include anemia, fatigue, and osteoporosis.

Given that the symptoms of milk allergy are similar to the symptoms of other diseases and digestive disorders, it can be very difficult to diagnose it. The most common symptoms of this allergy are heartburn, ear infections, sinusitis, constipation, canker sores, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, and diarrhea. Such symptoms as acne or abdominal pain can make your life very uncomfortable. In the worst case scenario, it can result in mental health problems, headaches, chronic fibromyalgia, or even iron deficiencies. However, the biggest problem of this allergy and of all other types of food allergies is a compromised immune system of the patient.

The main difference between milk allergy and lactose intolerance is that with lactose intolerance it will be much harder for your body to absorb the nutrients of milk or milk products. The reaction and the symptoms can be the same, but they can also be very different. The only way to make a proper diagnosis in this case is to learn more about your feeding habits. As for example, if you do not consume too much milk, the symptoms of lactose intolerance may or may not occur at all. At the same time, the symptoms of milk allergy are more evident. No matter how much milk you drink, you will have this or that symptom of allergy.

In order to prevent milk allergy (interesting to know is that the Danish term is ) or lactose intolerance, you need to be very cautious with what you eat. It can be a good idea for you to stay away from fresh or pasteurized cow milk, as well as from all milk products. You need to avoid such products as butter, cheese, yoghurts, and even ice cream. Note that even low-fat milk contains proteins and such bacterium as lactalbumin. Your body can be allergic to these components in all their forms. Hence, it can be reasonable for you to replace milk with other healthy products.
