A good night’s sleep is the key to staying healthy and having the energy to carry out your life. Having to juggle the pressures of a busy life is a tough ask, which often have has an impact on your health and especially your sleep.
In most case the factors that determine the quality of your sleep are beyond your reach, but, you can adopt certain habits that will help you sleep better.
Consistency
/> Be consistent in the times you go to bed and wake up at. Decide on a certain hour and then stick to the times you have selected. Gradually your body starts adjusting to the pattern and you don’t have trouble falling asleep or waking up. Initially, it might be difficult to doze off at the specified hour. Don’t stay in bed if you can’t sleep. Carry out some activity that helps you relax and then go back to bed after a while.
Comfort
/> One of the reasons people have trouble sleeping is that they aren’t comfortable in their rooms. You have to create an environment that is ideal for sleeping. Light peering through the blinds or the hum of the air conditioner are enough to unsettle your plans for sleeping. Remove or block out any objects that might hinder your comfort level. Also, make sure your pillows and mattress are comfortable to lie on.
Activity
/> Incorporate some physical activity into your daily routine. You don’t necessarily have to spend hours at the gym. Even if you can take a 15 to 20 minute walk everyday, it will be enough. When you exercise, your body tires out and you fall asleep almost as soon as your head hits the pillow. However, make sure you don’t indulge in any physical activity or exercise too close to your bedtime.

Stress
/> Stress is one of the major detriments to healthy sleep. Under stress, your mind has too much to think about. You won’t find the peace you need to be at ease and relax. Your mind has to be absolutely clear or else you are going to toss and turn a lot. It helps to try out some exercises for stress management. The better you manage your stress, the better your night sleep is going to be. While avoiding stress is difficult, you can manage it with a little effort.
